FAQ

Painless. In expert hands, needle insertion is painless or feels like a mosquito bite. When the needle reaches the right point and begins to “work,” you typically feel pressure, tingling, or a slight throbbing around the needle, depending on the needle manipulation. The treatment is relaxing; many people doze off while the needles, through the acupoints, regulate appropriate physiological functions, supporting recovery and alleviating symptoms.

An acupuncture treatment usually takes about 30 minutes. The examination and the first treatment together take about 1 hour.

Acupuncture exerts its effect gradually, so for chronic problems a course of at least 10 sessions is recommended. Depending on the severity, it may be more. Patients usually feel better after the treatment, although fatigue can sometimes occur. As treatments add up, those attending acupuncture feel better for longer and longer. The ideal frequency is 2–3 times per week, but in cases of severe pain it can be daily.

Acupuncture needles are very thin, completely safe and sterile. Typically 8–14 needles are used during a treatment, but this can vary by condition.

According to the WHO, acupuncture may help with the following problems: musculoskeletal problems, neurological problems, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, allergies, digestive issues, fatigue, circulatory problems, headaches, gynecological and pregnancy-related problems, fertility difficulties.

Tuina is a dry massage which, by using acupressure points and various massage techniques, helps relax the muscles, boosts circulation, reduces inflammation, relieves pain, and regulates appropriate physiological functions to alleviate symptoms.
It is generally used for musculoskeletal and neurological problems as a complement to acupuncture, e.g., for sports injuries and spinal pain.
